Character

Good morning!
On the flight to Florida this past weekend, I came across an excellent quote on character. I found it in a new book by best selling author and LIFE founder, Tim Marks. The book is titled Confidence of a Champion. Had to share it! Enjoy!

     "If we cut corners, build on the cheap, or simply hope that the storms of life will avoid us, we are in for a rude and perhaps even tragic awakening. Buildings constructed using shoddy materials, without a strong foundation or structural support, will collapse easily during an earthquake.
     Similarly, wise me and women build a framework for themselves with figurative concrete and steel. As R.C. Samsel said, 'Character is the foundation stone upon which one must build to win respect. Just as no worthy building can be erected on a weak foundation, so no lasting reputation worthy of respect can be built on a weak character.' Timeless values and principles hold us up when the storm winds blow. If we ignore this principle, we do so at our own peril."
