Mental Fitness Challenge - Day 8

Today began week two of the challenge and so we were told to focus on Character which is the next resolution in Orrin Woodward's book RESOLVED: 13 Resolutions For LIFE.

The whole resolution spells out like this:
"RESOLVED: To Choose Character Over Reputation Any Time They Conflict." Orrin's explanation of character was very interesting. He said that many people confuse having integrity with having character. The two go hand-in-hand but are not the same thing. Integrity is NOT doing the WRONG thing, while character is also not doing wrong thing but adds DOING the RIGHT thing, no matter what.

For example, a kid is being bullied at school, and I would have integrity if I did not participate in the bullying. I, however, would only display character if I were to do the right thing by coming to his defense, regardless of the consequences.

A great lesson to ponder this week while we continue to work on our goals and take the time to grow our own character.
